Skills & Drills and Atom Division

After reviewing the feedback from families (thank you everyone for your comments and feedback) we have decided to change the division to non-contact, flag football INSTEAD of folding the division. We do not have enough registered players in Atom to run a successful tackle program.

There will be a fee reduction to $100 so if you opt to continue in the program, you will receive a refund for the difference in the original Atom fee.

Also, should your Atom player be interested in participating in Skills & Drills, they can do so at no extra charge.

If your player is in Skills & Drills and want him/her to participate in the Atom league, the fee is an additional $40. Your player may still participate in Skills & Drills.

We respect and appreciate the families who prefer tackle football. The times are changing and following Football Canada’s mandate, we have to adapt. There are just as many families, if not more, that believe tackle football is better suited for older players.

If you wish to request an exception to move your player to Peewee, council & convener will review each case based on the player’s size and experience. Only those players in their final year of Atom with previous football experience and over 60lbs will be reviewed. Please email the convener at

If your player is in Skills and you want him/her to also play in Atom but there are budget or other concerns, please email Rob at

Football is not a sport that requires years of development to be good, or even great. It’s a sport that demands a player work hard and practice hard to be successful if its the first year or the tenth. Some of our very own coaches didn’t learn the game until high-school and were very successful then and on. Every year we gain new players in every division; we are a development program so every year coaches teach the fundamentals from scratch.

We are looking to have the Atom division practice once per week and play on Saturdays. The weekday practice ‘day’ is to be determined.

For the first 2-3 practices we will have all of the Atom players together and the coaches will join efforts. This way, we will all learn and work together on the fundamentals of flag, learn the rules, and get to know everyone. After these practices our coaches will work with the convenor to divide the teams.

Skills & Drills will be Saturdays, 9am at Norm Perry (once weekly); the season will start September 7th and run until October 19th

Atom Division will be Saturdays, 10am at Norm Perry (WITH 1  weekday practice; to be determined) and the season will run until November 9th.

Atom players will not need the tackle equipment originally handed out. Please bring the equipment for return to Norm Perry on September 7th. We will have volunteers to collect and log it. Players will need mouth guards and running shoes or cleats. They should wear comfortable athletic clothing, suitable for outdoor temperature/season.
